Chain Slings (CS)
Chain slings are the most durable type of lifting slings. Their use is often the only viable solution for lifting and moving loads in “hot” industrial environments, where wire rope or synthetic slings cannot be operated due to high temperatures.
The main load-bearing components of chain slings are high-strength alloy chains, as well as links, hooks, and connectors of Grade 8 (G80), compliant with international standards EN 818-1:2001, EN 818-2:2001, and EN 818-4:2017.
They are used for lifting and moving large, heavy loads at industrial and construction sites and feature a wide range of applications and a high safety factor (6–7 times) depending on the sling type.
Advantages of Chain Slings
-
Operational at high temperatures up to 300°C, and even above 500°C with reduced lifting capacity.
-
No elastic or spring deformation, unlike wire rope slings.
-
Resistant to sharp load edges.
-
Compact and easy to fold for transport and storage.
-
Adjustable sling leg length (using special shortening hooks).
-
Simple visual inspection and rejection procedure.
-
Long service life — measured in years.
-
Repairable — worn components can be replaced.
-
Corrosion- and environment-resistant, suitable for aggressive conditions.
Types of Chain Slings (CS)
Single-leg chain sling (1CS, VC)
This type of lifting device is used for gripping, lifting, and moving loads.
It consists of one length of Grade 8 lifting chain, along with end and connecting components such as hooks or shackles.
It is ideal for vertical lifting of compact and balanced loads.
Two-leg chain sling (2CS)
This sling is made of two lengths of Grade 8 lifting chain with end and connecting elements.
It provides better load stability and is used for lifting loads with two attachment points.
Three-leg chain sling (3CS)
Composed of three lengths of Grade 8 lifting chain, this type ensures improved balance when lifting irregularly shaped or large loads.
It includes connecting elements and end fittings such as hooks or shackles.
Four-leg chain sling (4CS)
This type consists of four branches of Grade 8 lifting chain with end and connecting components.
It is designed for lifting large, heavy, or bulky loads, providing maximum stability and even load distribution during operation.
